2013 Builder Member of the Year- Grant Giese, Green Goose Homes

At a recent board meeting, it was decided that a builder member along with an associate member deserves recognition at the end of each year. While at least one associate member has been honored for many years, 2013 will be the inaugural year for selecting one builder member among the many who give of themselves to the Builders Association of Greater Lafayette and to the residential building industry here in our area.

Five builders’ names appeared on a ballot in November and you, the members selected a winner that we are announcing this evening. The five members are all deserving of recognition and I would like to introduce those five: Tammy Foley-Foley Foundations, Grant Giese-Green Goose Homes, Andy Haste-Riverside Construction, David Kovich-Komark Ltd., and Pat Richard-Spire Group. These are all familiar faces when you think of the leaders in this industry and the well-respected professionals in their own businesses. Let’s give this group a round of applause.

The winner of the 2013 Builder Member of the Year has put in many hours, weeks and years of time and effort to making this organization stand among the state’s best local chapters. He has been involved with building at least one home in the annual BAGL Parade of Homes for the past 10 years, he has served as a board member since 2009, was the BAGL President for 2 years. Because of his understanding and belief in BAGL, he has recruited 50 new members for this association.

He started his own custom building company in 2011 and has become one of the top builders in our area to date. His dedication to his profession, to his community and to his family are all part of why fellow members feel he is most deserving of this award. We proudly present the first-ever BAGL Builder of the Year Award to Grant Giese of Green Goose Homes!

2013 Associate Member of the Year – Jay Andrew, Henry Poor Lumber

Some might say the last year was a roller coaster from month to month, trying to understand the market and economic climate, praying that customers and clients were looking to the future optimistically, ignoring the doom and gloom they read or heard in the news media.

And for the Builders Association of Greater Lafayette, we saw the ups and downs and the highs and lows like everyone else but standing tall and ever vigilant was a member who “believes” in all that this association and its members stand for. A long-standing member, who sponsored two general membership meetings and one builder luncheon last year. He has been a BAGL Board Member since 2008. This member stepped up as a sponsor for both our annual Parade of Homes and Golf Outing, was a spotlight display in the 2013 Home Building & Remodeling Show and was always one of the first to ask, “How can we help?”

A past member of this award in 2008, brother of the 2009 winner, an outstanding father to 3 beautiful little girls and one of the hardest working, most dedicated members in BAGL, we salute and congratulate our 2013 Associate Member of the Year, Jay Andrew of Henry Poor Lumber!
